McLellan Mill Liner Handlers
Reliable, durable, and dependable construction allows for reliable service during critical, costly downtime. McLellan designed Mill Liner Handlers are designed to be user-friendly.
It is made up of 7 major assemblies which include Crane, Chassis, Main beam, Dolly cart, Turret, Manipulator with clamp.
Depending on your requirements, our custom mill liner handlers may include some or all of the following features:
- Capacity to move and place liners up to 18,000+ Lbs. [8,164 Kgs].
- Chassis:The chassis allows you to drive your Mill Liner Handler to and from the mill, and also provides stabilization for the beam and crane once anchored into position in front of the mill.
- Exclusive McLellan 4 x 4 drive system with multi-directional maneuvering capabilities, utilizing (4) powered reversible steel wheels with polyurethane tread
 (or) rubber tires
- (4) Lift eyes, to allow pick up of chassis with an overhead crane.
- (4) Corner mounted eye style HD, clevis style or rail clamp style hold downs.
- (4) Floor mounts, installed in mill floor pockets.
- (2) Front load hydraulic jacks.
- (2) Rear turnbuckles, 45 degrees (Optional).

- Main beam: Equipped with heavy duty main beam drive system. Can include inner telescopic beam to suit smaller mill floor spaces. Configurations include the following:
- 7-axis mill liner handler non-telescopic,
- 7-axis mill liner handler telescopic,
- 3-axis mill liner handler non-telescopic and
- 3-axis mill liner handler telescopic.
 
- Dolly cart: Hydraulically powered rotating dolly cart for transporting liners along the beam.
- Adjustable cradle is included for providing good pickup interface between clamp lift pins and liner lift eyes
- Dolly cart operator platform with dolly control lever & emergency shutoff system. Capable of operating at multiple speeds with optional pendant controls for movement and rotation.
- Rollaway staircase for accessing dolly cart platform and top of main beam.
 
- Turret: Turret frame sits on the end of the beam, and houses the crane.
- A heavy-duty slew drive for accurate swing movement is located at the base of the turret.
- Removable side mount 2-posiiton operator seat and platform located on either side of the turret.
 
- Crane: Three (3) stage crane with full hydraulic functions, which includes crane 360 degrees continuous rotation, crane 45-degree vertical tilt up / down and crane extend / retract
- Safety swivel latched hook on optional crane extension tube. Lift ring under manipulator is standard.
 
- Manipulator with clamp: Hydraulic 3 axis liner manipulator including radio control system with clamp safety toggle switch.
- Clamp slew drive provides 360 degrees continuous rotation, manipulator swing cylinders provide 90 degrees left and right swing, manipulator pitch cylinders provide 100 degrees down and 30 degrees up pitch.
- Belay cylinder with belay arms for stabilizing the liners on the clamp for safety.
 
- Electrical system:
- Electronic control panel NEMA 4 or 4X.
- Electric panel certifications like CE / UL / CSA are available upon request.
- Incoming power supply can be 380VAC 50 Hz up to 690VAC 60 Hz, 3 phase.
- 3-phase induction electric motor ranging from 30, 40 and 50 HP, suitable for all types of facility voltages across the world.
- Separate drive and crane modes for safety; drive functions are de-activated while crane inside the mill is in operation.
- Six (6) LED work lights and a removable telescopic light pole with (2) LED lights.
- MSHA rated trailing cable 100 ft with spring rewind or fixed reel with optional plug and receptacle.
- Thermostat controlled hydraulic oil cooler and heater
- Beacon light with alarm which activates upon chassis and beam movement.
- E-stops button with magnetic base located at several places on the machine.
 
- Hydraulic system:
- 60 Gal / 227 Lit or 100 Gal / 379 Lit Reservoir
- High efficiency variable displacement axial-piston pump with pressure compensation.
- Auxiliary pump for cooling and heating circuit
- Hydraulic cylinders are equipped with counterbalance valve to maintain the position of the cylinder in the event of power loss.
 
- Radio remote control for all crane and manipulator functions. Includes rugged storage box mounted on chassis.
- Charge access ladder located at front of beam.
- Start-up commissioning and training included.
- Operator / maintenance manual & quick start / training guide in English and other foreign languages is included. Manual includes all the parts list and schematics.
- Machine cover for protecting against corrosive mine environment while not in use.
- English & Foreign Language Name Plates.
- Tool box with standard tools for maintenance.
